STEP AWAY FROM THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF LIFE AND INTO A GLASS-ENCLOSED LUSH, HABITAT.
Incredible tropical vegetation and soothing waterfalls abound in the beautifully designed, glass-enclosed habitat at The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory in Key West, Florida. Flowering plants and trees flourish in this rainforest setting and help relax your mind, body and soul. We recommend purchasing a butterfly guide in the gift shop before entering the enclosure so that you can identify the beautiful butterflies you meet along the way. The Conservatory is home to between 50 and 60 butterfly species from around the world that are able to fly freely through the habitat. While taking a stroll along the paths that lead through the tropical environment, visitors are able to see more than just butterflies. Flamingos, quail, canaries and finches also inhabit the glass environment. The flamingos definitely had big personalities and proved to be quite entertaining to observe while our Sun Kind of Living team strolled on through. Be sure to watch your step while walking on the paths because quail, butterflies, and other species of birds travel freely throughout their home and no one wants to see any gentle creatures get injured. Though the butterflies are stunning and everyone loves a good photo opp, DO NOT try to grab a butterfly or any creature in the habitat. If a butterfly lands on you, enjoy the moment and consider it good luck but do not force any of the inhabitants to reside on your body. Common sense, but must be reiterated.
THE GIFT SHOP IS INCREDIBLE!
Besides the fact our Sun Kind of Living team loved the butterfly and bird experience so much we had to go through the exhibit TWICE, we also spent over a half hour browsing through the gift shop that is attached to the Conservatory. The shop includes so much more than your average stuffed animals, t-shirts and keychains. The gift shop at The Butterfly and Nature Conservatory is brimming with everything from tiny unique good luck charms to an actual art gallery. There is so much to look at and so many unique gifts to purchase for even the pickiest of people in your life that seem to have everything. Great retail therapy exists in this butterfly oasis.
THERE IS MAGIC IN THE EXPERIENCE. DON’T RUSH IT.
Our Sun Kind of Living team’s advice to you is to take it all in. Don’t be in a hurry to complete the experience and run off and join the nearest bar. You will have all night to do that. Enjoy the moment! Appreciate the gorgeous Blue Morpho butterflies and all of the other living creatures that call the Conservatory their home. Walk slowly and tread lightly through the tropical pathways and be present in the moment. Make sure to stop at the end of the path to observe the caterpillars in their cocoons. Then shop your little hearts out in the gift store. We guarantee you will want to visit The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory in Key West, Florida again and again.
