BOUNTIFUL SHELLS IN LEE COUNTY, FLORIDA!
Lee County has no shortage of beaches but Blind Pass Beach definitely is a Sun Kind of Living favorite that extends across both Sanibel and Captiva Island. Parking might be limited but it is a short walk from the beach itself and proves to be cheaper than the $20.00 you have to pay to enjoy some other beaches.
KIOSKS CAN BE CONVENIENT!
There is no need to sit in a long line of cars to enter this beach and impatiently wait to pay a fee to an attendant who enjoys taking their sweet time. A kiosk is conveniently placed in the parking lot that takes both cash and card. This is a very good thing for those of us that never carry cash on them. The price of $5.00 per hour won’t break the bank.
A VIEW FROM BOTH THE GULF AND THE BAY.
Blind Pass Beach definitely doesn’t disappoint in its beauty. While enjoying some fun in the sun, make sure to snap a photograph of the Blind Pass Bridge which connects both Captiva and Sanibel Island. It is important to note that if you are one of those people who have a weak bladder, make sure you are on the Captiva side of the beach. Restrooms and showers can only be found on the Captiva side. There are no restrooms or showers available on the Sanibel side of the beach.
SWIMMING HAS NOT GAINED POPULARITY AT THIS BEACH.
Beaches and swimming usually coincide but Blind Pass Beach goers have issued a strong warning about swimming at this location. This strait is known for its strong ocean currents and definitely can be dangerous. Please do not attempt to become an Olympic free diver in this location if you usually are comfortable swimming with a pool noodle. Lifeguards are not on duty to save you!
WE FIND SEASHELLS WAIST DEEP BY THE SEASHORE!
A little patience, some shuffling of toes and a low tide is the perfect way to find stunning seashells at Blind Pass Beach. Some of the best whole shells are not usually found washed up on the shoreline at this location. Our Sun Kind of Living team walked out into the water and shuffled our little tootsies around until we located shell-rific treasure. Most of these shells remain undamaged because they are tucked delicately into the sand. If you love searching for shells like we do, then this beach will bring the child-like joy right out of you!
(Sun Kind of Living reminds you to be sure to bring your mesh shell bag and sand dipper for shark teeth.)
A DECENT RANKING FOR A DAY OF FUN.
Ranked #11 of 38 things to do in Sanibel Island by Tripadvisor, we feel Blind Pass Beach is worth a visit. There are plenty of shallow pools to wade in during low tide and prized seashells are definitely attainable at this sandy establishment. Bring your beach towel, camera, and favorite shelling bag and enjoy all that Blind Pass Beach has to offer.
